Cycle - 0.8 hours - 11/22/2008
Took my first ever spinning class this morning. I was so nervous to do it that I spent the drive to the gym hoping all the spots would be full when I got there and I could chicken out and run instead. Oh no, there were plenty of spots available on the sheet and I could feel the dread as I signed my name on one of the lines. The instructor immediately recognized me as a new kid and helped get the settings on the bike just right for me. (I need to remember them for next time! I know it’s 9 on the h-bars, 3.75 for the seat and F for the post). She gave me some simple instructions on what it would mean when she called out certain things and then we were off. This was a great workout and it really didn’t feel like 45 minutes at all. I think I would like to do this once a week as nice cross training for my running. Oh–except my bum hurts a bit! I imagine that will get better as I get used to it. If not, I guess there are always cycling shorts.
I am proud of myself for trying something new and excited that it turned out to be something I enjoyed.
